Another Sentimental Journey

Denise and I embarked on another of our sentimental journeys Wednesday of last week. We resolved soon after our arrival this trip that we would try to take at least one day “off” each week, recognizing that during the past few times we were here it appeared we became stressed and frazzled by the time we left. That resolution lasted about as long as our annual attempts at the beginning of the year to be more disciplined and intentional in our daily routine. A Change in Status

One of our favorite things about being in Morocco is the wonderful fresh fruit that is always available. The best oranges in the world, in my opinion, are grown here along with a wide variety of seasonal fruits such as strawberries, melons, peaches, apricots, plums, grapes, cherries and tangerines. Twice during the past week or so, we have had bowls of pomegranate seeds served at meals. I have been acquainted with pomegranates since my childhood and to be quite honest never cared for them much. Finger Lickin’ Good

Last weekend we had a visitor spend Saturday and Sunday night with us. Mostafa lives in a town about 40 miles from Casablanca and traveled to Fes by train. His brother, who lives and works in Canada, returned to Morocco for a visit during the spring, and he and Mostafa were able to visit us in Fes in early May. We met the members of this family in 2009 and have managed to visit in their home at least once every year since that time. Continue reading
